For apps built with Lovable, Bolt, Cursor, Replit, v0 and Claude Code

Vibe-Coded App Rescue: from demo to production

AI tools got you to a working product faster than any agency could. The last stretch, where real users, real payments and real attackers show up, is where they stall. Send us your app. Our engineers audit the code and its security for free, send you the report in under 24 hours, and then fix it on a fixed quote. You keep every line.

  • Free audit
  • Report in under 24 hours
  • NDA before you share code
  • ISO 27001 certified
  • You keep all the code

Sample audit · illustrative

  • Critical Supabase table "orders" readable without login (row-level security off)
  • Critical Stripe secret key shipped in the client JavaScript bundle
  • High Admin routes check the user role in the browser only
  • High next 15.1.3 is exposed to React2Shell (CVE-2025-55182)
  • Medium Payment webhook does not verify signatures or dedupe events
  • Medium One failed API call blanks the whole dashboard

Verdict: rescue, not rebuild. Fix in three phases, fixed price per phase.

Every audit ends with a severity-ranked list like this, a rescue-or-rebuild call, and a quote.

Signs your vibe-coded app has hit the wall

Vibe coding gets an idea to a working demo in days. These are the moments where it stops being enough, usually right after real people start using the app.

  • You are stuck in the prompt loop

Every fix the AI makes breaks two other things. You are spending more on credits than you are getting in progress, and the same bug keeps coming back.

  • Users might be seeing data that is not theirs

Or you cannot prove they are not, which is worse. This is the most common serious flaw in AI-built apps, and it rarely shows up in a demo.

  • Payments go through, orders do not show up

Stripe or Razorpay charged the card, but the order never landed. Usually a webhook that is not verified, not retried, or processed twice.

  • Fine with 10 users, crawling at 300

Pages that pull an entire table into the browser, database queries inside loops, no indexes and no caching. It held up in testing because testing was you.

  • You cannot get it off the platform

The export works but the deploy does not. Environment variables, database settings and auth redirects only exist inside the tool that built it.

  • Someone asked for a security review

An enterprise customer, an investor or an app store wants to know how you handle data. You do not know what is in the code well enough to answer.

  • No developer wants to touch it

Files thousands of lines long, three versions of the same function, tests that were deleted to make the build pass. Every change is a gamble.

  • The App Store or Play Store said no

Crashes on real devices, no way to delete an account, permissions that are never explained. Mobile apps built by AI fail review for reasons the tool never checked.

The real reason

Why vibe-coded apps break in production

AI coding tools are very good at the path you clicked through while you were building. They are much weaker at the paths you never tried: the logged-out visitor, the payment webhook that arrives twice, the 500th person signing up at once, the attacker reading your JavaScript bundle. You cannot prompt your way out of that, because the tool never sees those situations happen.

The research says the same thing. Security flaws in AI-generated code are common, they have not improved much as models got better at writing code that runs, and the most damaging ones in vibe-coded apps are not exotic. They are missing access rules and secrets left where anyone can read them.

Figures checked against their sources on 29 October 2026.

None of this means you chose wrong. Getting a working product in front of users quickly was the right call. It means the next stage needs a different kind of work: an engineer reading the code nobody has read, and closing the gaps before a customer or an attacker finds them.

What we check first

What breaks in AI-built apps, and how we fix it

These are the failures that show up again and again in AI-generated code, whether it came from Lovable, Bolt, Cursor or anything else. Every rescue audit checks all nine. Want to check your own app first? Work through our vibe coded app security checklist: 28 checks, and how to test each one.

  1. 01

A database open to the internet

Supabase tables with row-level security switched off, or policies that allow everyone (using (true)). Firebase rules still in test mode. Anyone with your public key can read or edit other users' records.

Our fix: Per-table access policies written for your real user roles, then tested by trying to break them.

  2. 02

    Secrets sitting in the browser

Service-role keys, Stripe secret keys and OpenAI keys bundled into client code or committed to git history, where a bot will find them within days.

Our fix: Move every secret server-side, rotate all exposed keys, and add secret scanning to the pipeline.

  3. 03

Login that only exists in the UI

The admin button is hidden for normal users, but the API route behind it never checks who is calling. Auth logic that runs in the browser can be skipped.

Our fix: Authorisation enforced on the server for every route, server action and edge function.

  4. 04

    Payments that fail silently

Stripe or Razorpay webhooks that do not verify signatures, do not handle retries, or create duplicate orders. Subscriptions that never cancel.

Our fix: Signature checks, idempotency keys, and a reconciliation job that catches anything missed.

  5. 05

    Dependencies with known CVEs

The AI pinned whatever package versions it knew on the day it wrote the code. Nobody has updated them since, including frameworks hit by critical bugs like React2Shell.

Our fix: A full dependency audit, patched versions, and automated update pull requests from then on.

  6. 06

    Errors swallowed whole

Empty catch blocks, background jobs that log "success" while doing nothing, and white screens when one request fails. You hear about bugs from customers.

Our fix: Error boundaries, structured logging, and alerts that reach a human before your users do.

  7. 07

Slow the moment it gets busy

Whole tables fetched to the client, queries inside loops, no indexes, no pagination, no caching. Hosting bills climb while the app gets slower.

Our fix: Profile the real hot paths, then index, paginate and cache where it pays off.

  8. 08

    Input trusted without checks

No validation on forms or APIs, unescaped output that allows cross-site scripting, and AI features open to prompt injection from user content.

Our fix: Schema validation at every boundary, safe output encoding, and guardrails on LLM features.

  9. 09

    Code no one can maintain

Huge files, duplicated components, dead code from abandoned prompts, no tests and no CI. Your next developer quotes a rewrite.

Our fix: Refactor the worst modules, add tests around sign-up, login and payments, and set up CI with preview deploys.

Free, no obligation

The free rescue audit: your report in under 24 hours

The clock starts when we have access. An engineer reads your code and data rules by hand, backed by automated scanners for secrets and vulnerable packages. The report is yours to keep, whether or not you hire us.

What you get

  • A defect register ranked by severity: what is broken, where it is in the code, and what it costs you if it stays broken.
  • Security findings mapped to the OWASP Top 10, covering database access rules, exposed secrets, auth gaps and injection risks.
  • A dependency scan against known CVEs, with the exact versions to move to.
  • A rescue-or-rebuild verdict with our reasons, not a sales pitch.
  • A fixed price and timeline for each phase of the fix, so you can approve one phase at a time.

What we need from you

  • Read-only access to the code on GitHub, GitLab or Bitbucket. On Lovable or Bolt, turn on GitHub sync or export the project.
  • The live or staging URL and a test login for each type of user (customer, admin, and so on).
  • Ten minutes on a call or a short note on what the app should do and what is going wrong.

We sign an NDA before you share anything. Read-only access means we cannot change your code or your data during the audit. Pyramidions is ISO 27001 certified for information security.

Real audits

Two AI-built apps we have audited, and what we found

Both are client projects from 2026, described without names. One needed a rescue. The other mostly needed someone to check it properly.

Rescue, delivered

A B2B manufacturing marketplace, prototyped on Replit

Expo mobile app · Node and Express API · Postgres

Two founders had built a marketplace where engineering and manufacturing businesses find suppliers, post requirements and chat. The prototype looked finished. They asked for an audit before anyone quoted a rebuild.

What the audit found

  • Any logged-in business could read any other business's private chats and see every competitor's quoted price. More than 12 endpoints trusted the ID in the URL and never checked who owned the record.
  • A hardcoded fallback signing key meant anyone who had seen the code could mint themselves an admin login.
  • The private file store, meant for business verification documents, had its access check commented out.
  • Password reset said "link sent" and sent nothing. There was no payment code, no admin dashboard, no migrations, and the code was not in a git repository.

Verdict

Rescue, not rebuild. The API contract, database design and screens were sound, and the roughly 6,000 lines of hand-written code held four to six weeks of work worth keeping.

What happened next

Fixed-price build from August 2026: ownership checks on every endpoint, real authentication, payments, an admin dashboard and production infrastructure, delivered in five milestones with the last Replit coupling removed. Handover completed in October 2026.

Audit, first pass

A fishing-harbour trade app, built with AI coding agents

Flutter · Supabase · AI voice billing

A product owner had directed AI agents to build an app for boat owners, commission agents, seafood exporters and captains. We built it from source, ran it against a private copy of the backend with all 127 migrations, and worked every role by hand on a real Android phone. The live system was never touched.

What the audit found

  • The money flows were right. Bills, commissions, payments and settlements matched, and the backend checks passed 40 of 40 and 47 of 47.
  • The AI voice-billing step turned a spoken sale into a correct bill in only 2 of about 12 attempts. To its credit, the app never saved a line nobody had reviewed.
  • Seven screen defects, including an admin screen that approved a company in one tap from a blank detail page.
  • 33 failures in older regression suites that nobody had triaged.

Verdict

Not every audit finds a disaster. Here the foundations were sound, and the work is targeted: make the AI feature reliable and fix the screens before the app goes on the harbour floor.

What happened next

Findings delivered as a five-page report with screenshots, plus the questions we needed the owner to answer before quoting the fix.

How a Vibe-Coded App Rescue Works

Security first, then stability, then the features that never quite worked. You approve every phase before it starts.

  • Free audit

Read-only review of your code, data access rules and dependencies. Report, verdict and fixed quote in under 24 hours.

  • Stop the bleeding

Exposed keys rotated, database access locked down, critical CVEs patched. This always ships first.

  • Stabilise

Real error handling, logging and alerts, tests around sign-up, login and payments, and CI with preview deploys.

  • Finish what is missing

The features the AI never quite got working, built properly and reviewed by a second engineer.

  • Launch

Production hosting you own, custom domain, backups, monitoring, and App Store or Play Store submission for mobile apps.

  • Hand over or stay on

A full handover with documentation and a runbook, or a maintenance plan that keeps everything patched.

Rescue or rebuild?

Should you fix it or start again?

It is the first question every founder asks, and the audit answers it with evidence from your code. This is how we decide.

Rescue it when

  • The core data model is sound, even if the code around it is messy.
  • The app does what users want. The problems are security, reliability and speed.
  • It runs on a mainstream stack: React, Next.js, Supabase, Firebase, Node or Flutter.
  • You have users or revenue you cannot afford to interrupt.

Rebuild it when

  • The data model is wrong at the root, so every new feature fights it.
  • The app has been regenerated so many times that nothing is consistent.
  • The platform cannot export code that builds and runs anywhere else.
  • Fixing would cost more than rewriting the parts that actually matter.

Most of the time the honest answer is a mix: keep the screens and the parts that work, and rebuild the backend underneath them. A full rewrite is rarely needed, and we will not sell you one when it is not.

Platforms we rescue

Built with Lovable, Bolt or Cursor? We can fix it.

Each tool fails in its own way. Knowing where to look first is most of why the audit takes hours, not weeks. Built with something else, like Base44 or Emergent? If we can read the code, we can assess it.

  • Lovable

React on the front, Supabase behind it. We usually find row-level security gaps, keys inside edge functions and fragile auth redirects. We work through GitHub sync, so you can keep editing in Lovable afterwards if you want to.

  • Bolt.new

Often Vite or Next.js with Supabase or Netlify. Typical problems: environment variables that do not survive deployment, and projects that only run inside the browser IDE. We get them building and deploying on infrastructure you control.

  • Cursor, Windsurf and Claude Code

These live in a real repository, which usually makes them the most rescuable. Expect agent sprawl: duplicate implementations, half-finished refactors, and tests that were mocked or deleted until they passed.

  • Replit

Apps tied to Replit hosting and its database, and AI agents with write access to production data. We move the app and its data to infrastructure you own, with separate environments for testing and live users.

  • v0 by Vercel

Next.js App Router and React Server Components, often with a backend that is only half wired up. We finish the server side and check the Next.js version against known CVEs, React2Shell included.

  • FlutterFlow and AI-built mobile apps

Flutter is one of our core stacks. We fix exported code that will not build, Firebase rules left open, crashes on real devices, and the store requirements that get apps rejected.

Keeping it fixed

Fixing it once is not enough: the 2026 CVE wave

Published vulnerabilities more than doubled this year. The US National Vulnerability Database lists over 86,500 CVEs published between 1 January and 25 October 2026, against 48,151 for the whole of 2025 (Brandefense). Attackers are keeping pace: Google's threat intelligence team counted an average of 18 vulnerabilities exploited in the wild per month in 2026, up from 10.5 in 2025 (Google Cloud).

A vibe-coded app is frozen on whatever package versions the AI picked the day it wrote the code, and nobody is watching them. When React2Shell (CVE-2025-55182, rated 10.0 out of 10) was disclosed in December 2025, Next.js 15 and 16 apps using the App Router were open to remote code execution until they were patched. The Next.js team's advice after patching was to rotate every secret the app used.

So every rescue ends with automated dependency updates and CVE alerts wired into your repository. If you do not have an engineer of your own, our maintenance plans keep the app patched, monitored and backed up after the rescue is done.

Vibe-Coded App Rescue: Questions Founders Ask

A vibe-coded app is one built mostly by describing what you want to an AI coding tool, such as Lovable, Bolt.new, Cursor, Replit or v0, and accepting the code it writes without a developer reviewing it line by line. It is a fast way to get a working product. The catch is that nobody has read the code, so security gaps, fragile error handling and performance problems often stay hidden until real users arrive.
